Are a funny lot. We are always looking out for the kids even when they know longer consider themselves kids. We watch as they make decision's express opinions, make mistakes and worry that they are alright. Its best that we don't know any more than we do because I'm sure it would prompt more worry. Some of this is directly related to not being real busy and doing the work every day thing. It gives us more time to think about where we are and where we are going and where we would like to be.
Jim is doing much better and wants to leave the hospital, I've mentioned that before. He is back to his old self with respect to attitude and approach to the day to day stuff. I don't agree with the new thought for the new year but its his so as he would say "what ever".
This is going to be a very interesting year for everyone who is watching this drama unfold. I'm wondering how this last adventure will play out on canvas. I know its had an effect on me I guess will have to wait and see.
I'm rambling a bit so I'm going to stop for now. Walk the dogs, and do some running this afternoon. I would like to post some pictures later if I get some time, wait a minute thats all I have right now is time.
Its cold here and I'm not feeling good about it.
later
great day

Progress
Saturday, January 27, 2007, 1/27/07
Just got off the phone with JIm and he sounded great. He is making progress and feels much better but he's not there yet and for all of you that know him you know how impatient he is. He wants to go home or to Roberts. I gave him my opinion {which I'll leave to him) and we talked about all the things that will have to be addressed. I told him I would let everyone know he now has his computer with him, so ever so often you may see a comment from him. I believe and I told him as well that it would be good for hime to blog once and awhile just to let everyone know whats going on. Now if he doesn't do that I'll post his cell phone number and you can all text message him till he blogs. Some of what he needs to do for therpy can be accomplished while typing on the computer so he can take care of a couple of needs at once.
I'm happy he has his head on straight and hope the common sence he has kick's in as well so all the new found energy and motivation can be channeled in teh right direction.
Enough for now its time for breakfast and some extra crispy bacon (thats for you Billy)
great day everyone

WE'RE BAAAACK
Friday, January 26, 2007, 1/26/07
I'm not going to go into details as to why this page went offline for a bit but I'll just call it operator error and let it go at that.

We've talked to Jim a couple of times since the last entry and He is now experiencing some discomfort in his left hand and last night the therapist put heat on it and for the most part it didn't help. He described it as mild discomfort and more of a waking up like feeling. I hope thats what it is and the different elements of his body are waking up and responding to signals from his old stubborn head. He's not reading this so I can say that and even if he were. He want's to talk to the Doctor about leaving, probably a bit early for that, but deffinetly leaving for a visit or a starbucks or something would probably be in order. He is really starting to get back to normal as far as his attitude is concerned and will probably piss someone off very soon now. (probably me)
The prayers and good vibs and what ever else are doing the job I believe and everyone keep it up.
His appetite is good he's gained weight back, he's doing stairs and bike but tires very quickly so he's got a ways to go for conditioning.
Ok thats it for now more later

geat day everyone

12#'s
Wednesday, January 24, 2007, 1/24/07
Jim has gained 12 pounds and is doing realy much better. Most of this improvement is due to attitude. I guess he had to get everything sorted out in his head before he could tackle the problem head on. He has set a realistic goal and is moving toward that goal. Karen had a nice chat with him this morning and all seems to be ok.
I'm try to get remotivated to do some of my printing and color work its difficult to get back in the swing with the weather being so screwed up. I'm going to try and get some shots of eagles yet this week once again it depends on weather.
The dog training is going forward and I'm trying to walk these two everyday and spend some time with Gracie. She just doesn't come back like Molly and I really would like to let her run and romp with MOlly but if I do I'll have to chase her all over the place to get her back. So the training with a 50 foot lead will have to continue for awhile.
Back to Jim...
I'm hoping he can get back to painting soon but for the moment he's spending all his energy trying to restablish the communication with his left side, He still doesn't bend that knee but he continues to work on it. No one can tell at this point what the future holds or how much he can regain but he is absolutly focused on the problem.
I'm hoping Billy got some pictures of Jim this last weekend and if he posts some I'll post a link so everyone can check them out.
Thats it for now its time for the dogs.
great day everyone

Slow but steady
Tuesday, January 23, 2007, 1/23/07
Progress and moving forward. I spoke with JIm this morning and he was in good spirits and ready to start the day. The therapist had just gotten there and they were preparing for the start of the day. He seemed in anxious to start, He worked on the stationary bike yesterday and will probably work with it on a daily basis. He's eating well and seems to be gaining some of his weight back.
While we were talking Gracie (his blaack Lab) came up to me and started whining and he laughed. When she does that it sounds like she's trying to talk, and I guess in her own way she probably is. Anyway Jim got a charge out of hearing her on the phone.
I'm trying to train her to be more receptive to simple commands like "Damnit get back here". She roams a bit and doesn't come back like Molly. We don't have a fenced yard so letting her run under these circomstances isn't an option.
Ok I'm going to depend on his friends and their thoughts as to how he's doing but so far everyone seems to agree he's doing better.
I'll add more when I know more so until than great day everyone.
