I'm having trouble changing some ink -
We seem
07/20/07
to be making some progress. Jim's rash appears to be getting better. The breathing thing is still a problem although it does seem to be getting better.
The PT person was here today along with the visiting nurse both very nice and helpful.
It looks like we'll go to St. Louis today -
The Katy Trail
07/18/07
and 94 degree's was probably not my most intelligent decision but it did remind me of how I felt the last 15 miles of my first century ride. At the last stop Jim helped me get my head back into the ride and I managed to finish. It also reminds me of the fact that we all have that extra little s -
I won't
07/17/07
miss that drive into St. Louis everyday. I did it for years before I retired and because I was working it was just part of my day, but I've gotten away from it.
We got home early this afternoon and I took a nap, Karen read and Jim napped off and on. Karen tripped into Washington (Mo. not M -
Jim
07/16/07
will be coming home tomorrow (Tuesday). He's disappointed it's not today but he'll be stronger and feel better tomorrow.
The rash he suffered from was from an allergic reaction from one of the seizure medications he was given and they have ID'd it. The breathing proble -
Still at SLU
07/13/07
We're going to bring him some things tomorow, ipod and stuff. Not sure when he'll be released. He has had an alergic reaction to a anti seizure med and it will take a couple of weeks to clear up. He may have asperated something during the seizure and it may have caused an infection hence la -

Waiting
07/12/07
to hear from the doctors office in St. Louis. Jim has allot of congestion and has trouble breathing. Know PT today there still trying to get an ok from the doctor.
SLU is a great hospital and I'm sure they turn out great Doctors but when you are trying to get in touch with someone from a d -
A diversion
07/11/07
Thats what this image represents. A diversion for me and anyone else as well. I'm intrigued by the things large and small around us daily that reminds us or at least me of just how small we all are in the big picture.
Ok back to reality. Jim had a pretty restful night o -
anger managment
07/10/07
Goose Fraba doesn't work for me. Thanks NC Bill I'll work around it for now. It just seems every turn we make theirs something in the way attitude is a big one right now Jim is very short and rude for lack of a better term. One step forward and three back.
He has developed a reaction -
Ok here we are
07/09/07
in Lake Sherwood. I'm hoping Jim posts something in his blog today I'm running out of things to say. I'm disappointed he opted to do rehab here instead of the hospital. I know it won't be the same or as affective. We have to get him stable enough to travel so he can continue his -

Here's a picture from yesterday. Jim is between two Karen's I guess that's a good thing.
Actually I try not to get between them but Jim had know choice. Just kidding I forgot there's still one here.
There both very caring and you know.

Three
07/07/07
good days in a row. The MRI was ok and Jim will be moving to Forest Park Rehab Hospital probably tomorrow. He will be there long enough to get back to where he was before the seizure. After that he's coming back to Dallas at least for now so he can continue his meds and care from his primary do -
Another good Day
07/07/07
He was good again today. He is weak but they had him setting up for an hour today. There trying for that last MRi and after that I'm not sure. I would think as soon as he regains some of his strength they will start talking about sending him home.
I know we're starting to think about -
Good news finally
07/05/07
If yesterday was bad on that scale today was fantastic. He's doing much better. The MRI is scheduled for tomorrow along with some physical therapy. He's talking and allot of his memory has returned laughing, smiling and remembering this was a big day.
We just got back and I need slee -
When
07/05/07
we got to the hospital yesterday it appeared Jim had taken a step back. He was no longer talking like the day before and we were met with a blank stare. As the day wore on he did respond to some questions with a one word answer or a shake of the head. We felt it got a little better but far from an i -
Karen
07/04/07
called the hospital this morning (we have the direct line to ICU)and asked if Jim would be moved from ICU and they replied no. Also informing us that there was no change in his condition or state. We'll be here for awhile this morning and try and catch our breath before heading for the hospital -
A day
07/03/07
of smiles ,frowns, tears, some disappointments. Jim was taken off the respirator and as he became more conscious he had trouble expressing himself. He was very disoriented and had bits of conversations and past experiences all jumbled up and scared me for one and everyone was concerned. He was very -
Jim's awake
07/03/07
They took the ventilator out and he is awake and "slightly" grumpy. Dad said they were going to try and do an MRI yet today and that there have been several doctors in to see him so it sounds like they are being proactive instead of playing the wait and see game.
Not much else to say -
Jim was moved last night
07/03/07
They moved Jim last night at about 3 am to SLUH (St. Louis University Hospital). Mom, dad & Karen are all there with him now, this is Jim's brother Dave making this entry for dad. We wanted to try and keep updating since he has so much family in Dallas as well, so keep checking in on the bl -

07/02/07
is for sure going to be transfered tonight sometime by helicopter to one of two centers in St. Louis. When he does the two Karens will come back here and we'll drive to St.Louis to be with Jim. I'm not sure when I'll get back here so we may have to pass info by phone. We'll call -
This morning
07/02/07
Jim had a pretty serious seizure. We called 911 and transported him to the local hospital in Washington. We just got back home and they are going to transfer him to St. Louis today sometime as a bed comes available in the ward for his special needs.
The tests here in Washington were all negativ -
